Introduction - Comparing Existing Magazine Covers

I decided to research some already existing college magazine and these were a few of the magazines I found. These would ideally be how I would like my magazine to look, because they are quite well organised, whilst still having a variety of text. The common themes of a college magazine seem to be relationships, jobs/cvs, fashion, and technology. In comparison, my magazine doesn't quite live up to the standard of already existing magazines, therefore in order for my magazine to survive it would  need to be developed

Introduction - Genre Research

Here I conducted research on the R&B Genre, in order to understand the target audience better.

I feel this will be beneficial to my music magazine as I have a deeper understanding of the R&B genre as a whole, therefore making my music magazine more appropriate to it's target audience.

Introduction - What This Blog Will Include

Hi, I'm Kimberley and throughout the next year or two this will be my media coursework blog. In the blog I will be presenting my media coursework. This consists of a music magazine.

This is Jessie J, who is currently one of my favorite artists. I like Jessie J because her music can relate to so many
different issues that people may be going through and she's an inspiration to keep going and believe in yourself.

This is an example of Jessie J's music style. This is her latest song called Who's Laughing Now which was released in the UK on 28th February 2011. Some of her other songs include "Price Tag", "Nobody's Perfect","Do It Like A Dude" and "Who You Are".

Both Q and NME use the grid style on there front cover. This is displaying the masthead in the top third, the central image in the middle third, and the extra information in the bottom third. NME has developed into this style as it wasn't originally like this. I like this style of production as it produces a clean professional look to it.
Here you can see an older NME which in my opinion isn't quite as good as the other two because it has too much information and there isn't any suspense as to what's on the inside to keep reading the magazine.
Reflecting back on this research I now have a clearer idea on the style of magazine which I want to create, as some I have seen have been inspiring and I hope mine could do the same.
