Music Magazine - Final Draft Double Page Spread

This is the final draft of my double page spread. I think the layout works effectively at separating the text evenly and the use of colour makes the page eye- catching. The page follows the house style of red and black. The only thing I would improve if I had the time would be to possibly change the background on the photo of Chloe and Abby to white because it stands out more than I meant it to and being on a black background it would blend in nicely with the other photos.

Here is a video of me creating and drafting my double page spread.

Music Magazine - Final Draft Contents Page

This is my final draft of my contents page, which I am quite happy with. I think the red for the 'Contents' and the subheadings makes them stand out against the black and immediately draws the readers attention to them. This is the same for the page numbers they stand out, as a contrast to the black text. I attempted different colours such as the blue on the photo and the red for the subheadings but overall the red looked nicer and more professional. I think the jumping photo is quite appropriate to be next to the compettitons as when people are happy they 'jump for joy', which is exactly what the four people in my photo are doing. The compettiton is relatively simple to answer as Emeli Sande was a support act and The Wanted weren't on that day which means that more people would be tempted to answer it, and convince there friends it's a good compettition so they'd purchase the magazine too.

Music Magazine - Final Draft Cover Page

This is my final draft of my cover page. I like white on black effect of 'Massive Christmas' followed by the black on white effect of 'Music Weekly' as I believe this helps the masthead to stand out. I think the christmas baubles fit in with the Christmas theme I was going for however they don't look as effective I was hoping for. The box with 'Exclusive Posters of Girlband Mystique' could possibly be incorporated in as I think if I laid it out effectively it could look professional and be effective on my cover page. To improve I think the straplines could also be laid out better such as the one next to the central image's head which is barely noticable.

Music Magazine - Drafting Process

I didn't like this cover at all even though it included necessary items such as, a masthead, date and price, and a barcode. The pictue doesn't seem to look right on this background and doecn't look professionally created at all.

I like the layout of my contents page so I believe I will keep that for my final contents page, however I believe it lacks colour as the only colour is black which makes it fairly boring. To improve this I think I might make the titles along the side e.g News a different colour.

I like the variety of photos, with not one central image almost like a college, however I'm not keen on the layout and think that it would be best to put the text into columns to keep it neat. The title 'Jingle Bell Ball- Highlights of the Weekend' possibly needs to be bolder, and / or another colour as it doesn't stand out enough. Again like the contents page this page lacks colour variety so I will need to add more to this along with structuring it more organisedly.
